The role of the Local Governing Body (LGB)

The Trust Board delegates specific roles and responsibilities through the Scheme of Delegation to committees, including the Local Governing Body.

This strategic direction and oversight will ensure that the culture, values and ethos of the Trust is being met at individual academy level.

The LGB is accountable to the Trust Board in relation to any matter delegated to it.  Roles and responsibilities for all committees and the Local Governing Body can be found in the Terms of Reference documents within the Scheme of Delegation.

Trustees value the work undertaken by the Local Governing Body and is committed to ensuring that Governors are well supported as they carry out their duties for the Trust Board.

Governors usually attend between four to six meetings during the academic year as well as attending the academy to undertake their individual monitoring duties.

While being a Governor is a commitment and responsibility, it offers you the chance to see first-hand the impact you can make in improving education for children in your community.
